Robert Dale Rogers has been a n herbalist for over forty years, and is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta, where he is presently an assistant clinical professor in Family Medicine.
He teaches plant medicine, including plant and mushroom medicine, aromatherapy and flower essences in the Earth Spirit Medicine faculty at the Northern Star College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Robert is past chair of the Alberta Natural Health Agricultural Network and Community Health Council of Capital Health. He is a Fellow of the International College of Nutrition, past-chair of the medicinal mushroom committee of the North American Mycological Association and on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms, Fungi magazine and Discovery Phytomedicine.
He is the author of over 40 books on medicinal plants and fungi of the boreal forest, including The Fungal Pharmacy: The Complete Guide to Medicinal Mushrooms and Lichens of North America.
A Cree Healer and his Medicine Bundle, was released in June 2015 by North Atlantic Books. It documents the ten generation passing down of over sixty traditional plants and fungi and their medicinal use.
Mushroom Essences: Vibrational Healing from the Kingdom Fungi was released in July 2016. This book contains 48 mushroom essences prepared under lunar influence for working with soul connection and depth psychology. It includes one or more case study, from clinical practice, associated with using these wonders of the underworld.
Beverley Gray is the author of the national bestselling and international award winning book, The Boreal Herbal: Wild Food and Medicine Plants of the North and the author of, A Field Guide to Medicinal Wild Plants of Canada. Beverley is a Canadian herbalist, aromatherapist, natural-health practitioner, journalist, and an award-winning natural health-product formulator. She owns the Aroma Borealis Herb Shop in Yukon, Canada. Beverley loves to share her passion for wild medicinal plants through herb walks, talks and medicine making.
Chad Cornell operates The Hollow Reed Holistic Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he practices and teaches herbalism and meditation. He is a co-founder of the Our Common Roots project (www.ourcommonroots.com) and recently released an online herbal medicine program with Robert Rogers (nextgenerationherbalist.com). He is currently involved in orchestrating the Summer Ethnobotany Field Course through the Indigenous Studies Department at the University of Winnipeg as well as creating an Earth Camp for kids in Manitoba’s Boreal region. Chad’s passion is assisting the integration of timeless planetary wisdom into our fast changing world.
Donna Christie is a Cinical/Master Herbalist and Wholistic Practioner who assists people throughout the city of Calgary in search of a more natural approach to healthy lifestyles in all aspects. She is currently undergoing her Ph.D in Sclerology, using this as one of her many modalities along side Iridology, chinese medicine and nutrition as a basis for optimal health practices. Donna’s passion for understanding plants from seed to skeleton or vice versa is one of her driving forces, she currently owns a small scale gardening company sharing her expertise with all whom will lend an ear.. understanding the medicine behind the plants is only half of the picture, as she believes knowing each plants cycle, temperment and as she calls it” personality” will aid in understanding their many healing properties. If there is any spare time left Donna heads the Western Wholistic Herbal Gathering, she takes pride in passing on as much information about all living things around us because we are all connected. Through the gathering she aspires to create awareness and build community.
Malcolm is an Intuitive Chef who specializes in the Alchemy of Superfoods and Superherbs. He has an expertise and passion for creating, and teaching others how to make, many special energizing and healing creations, including raw chocolate, elixirs and fermented foods. Blaine has been teaching various aspects of herbal medicine for 33 years, perhaps best known for his long standing affiliation with Wild Rose College in Calgary. In 1991 Blaine dedicated his career to full-time clinical practice, and the formulation and distribution of essential oils. He has taught for numerous aromatherapy and massage schools from Toronto to California, and continues his Calgary practice.
Zoe Lynne is a Clinical Herbalist who combines aspects of traditional medicinal theories, mental health and educational counseling, nutrition and herbal based remedies as well as emotional guidance and lifestyle/stress management. In order to bring balance back into our lives we first must bring it back into our selves, a feat which often requires long term dedication and real change brought on through personal growth. Learning and exploring is the first step and she’s always happy to adventure!
Eric Whitehead, a.k.a mushroom guy, is one of the faces associated with wild food in Canada. Having grown up in a remote part of BC’s interior, (groceries were 3 hours away), he developed an insatiable curiosity and a practical knowledge of what’s wildly available to us as food and medicine. Chantal Stormsong Chagnon
Chantal Chagnon hails from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan. She sings and drums traditional and contemporary Aboriginal songs, and has been performing publicly since 2009 in Calgary. Chantal is a single mom, teacher, professional singer, actress and performer, special event coordinator, activist, social justice advocate and community organizer. She hosts regular workshops teaching traditional Aboriginal crafts, sharing culture and knowledge. She is passionate about building Aboriginal cultural awareness and bridges of understanding, and is honoured and humbled to share her gifts of song, tradition and culture.
Terry Willard, Cl.H., Ph.D. is recognized as one of North America’s leading Clinical Herbalists. He was the past President of the Alberta Association of Herbal Practitioners, and past President of the Canadian Council of Herbalist Associations and is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. He has been elected to several terms on the Federal Government’s NHP-PAC board to consult on product licensing by the government.
For over forty years he has been an active practitioner and teacher, director of the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, is in the Canadian Health Food Association’s Hall of Fame and is the author of twelve books.
Terry is semi-retired living on an organic acreage on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
Suzanne grew up immersed in herbal medicine and natural health care. She is a complete purist when it comes to ingredients saying, “If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth don’t put it on your body”. Her original company Acqua Vita was the first 100% organic aromatherapy company in Canada and provided 125 essential oils and 64 hydrosols plus an extensive product line. She has been in full-time clinical practice since 1995, supporting her clients in all aspects of wholistic health and personalised care.
Catty is the author of Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy; Hot Tea: Cooking with Camellia sinensis and co-author of Aux Petits Maux; Les Nouveau Remedes; as well as dozens of articles on complimentary medicine in aromatherapy and health publications around the world.
Her groundbreaking work with aromatic plant waters, known as hydrosols, created a new form of plant medicine and, turned an unused by-product into a global commodity now found in thousands of products. She is recognized for ensuring her work always gives back to local communities and individual producers of raw materials, at source. Every year, Suzanne provides pro bono consultations for NGO’s and non-profits around the world on sustainable production of plant extracts and natural product development.
Suzanne’s extensive knowledge and unique style have made her a popular speaker, writer and educator in the media and in person in Europe, Austral-Asia and throughout North America. She’s also very good with animals.
Jeananne Laing is a Master and Clinical Herbalist and Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach based in Calgary. Jeananne is co-founder of Lodgepole School, President of the Alberta Herbalists Association and an Alberta representative for the Canadian Council of Herbalists Association. Jeananne’s interest in Cannabis as medicine began many years ago when she discovered that taking a small amount of marijuana prior to a public speaking project in high school took away debilitating anxiety and allowed her to actually enjoy the task, rather than being paralyzed with fear. With the recent change in Canadian laws, Jeananne has been able to turn her herbal attention to teaching about the healing benefits of cannabis. Jeananne spends a good portion of her time as a Cannabis Educator at Harvest Medicine in Calgary.

Called a ‘Lengendary Canadian Naturalist’ by famous painter Robert Bateman, Gus grew up with a fondness for the birds, plants and animals around him. He spent decades running his own Natural History tour company, taking people around the world to show them the beauty of this planet. Retired in 1991, he has continued to share his amazing knowledge and love of nature by leading tour groups in Calgary and area since 1993. He is active in the many nature and conservation organizations, giving talks to various groups, leading nature tours, teaching birding and botany courses, writing articles, compiling a book on the wild plants of Calgary, and representing various clubs or societies on different boards or for different issues. He has made a lifetime study of the flora, fauna and physiology of all 7 continents, and over 76 countries and regions.
Gus’ Workshops: Gus will lead 3 botany walks of 1.5 hours each. The fundamentals of classification, history, prior usage, and of course, identification will be stressed.
James Byrne, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair of Geography at the University of Lethbridge. His expertise is environmental change, climate and water resources modelling, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. In recent years, he has focused on renewable energy policy, planning and development. He is the lead scientist and co-producer of the award winning Global Change Television series (2002), the seven-part TV series Water under Fire (2004), Choking Lake Winnipeg (2011) and co-produced a series of videos on climate change science and solutions in 2014. He is a founding member of the Canadian Water Network (CWN), serving as National Theme Leader in Water Resources Management and a member of the CWN Research Management Committee from 2001-04.

Victoria was welcomed into the wonderful world of herbs and wildcrafting at Wild Rose College, she graduated with her practical herbalist diploma in 2011. Combined with her diploma’s in Musical Theatre, as a Yoga teacher, birth doula, permaculture designer and her experience working in children’s theatre/ television and as a Mother she has become very passionate about helping raise and support conscious, nature-inspired human beings. She has been running a day home for over 4 years and is currently completing the Alberta childcare assistant course. Children can expect lots of free play, crafting with natural materials, yoga, dance, singing with the uke and discovering the beauty of nature in the KidZone.
Dustin is a Nutritionist, Reiki/ Shaolin Qi-Gong practitioner and a Delegate of the Resonance Project Foundation. Born and raised in Calgary Dustin manages a health food store and strives to help people balance their health in all aspects of life. Through good food and eating in harmony with the universe, Dustin shows us how to rest and repair ourselves.
